Expertise
Dr. Ross has a 20-year career in university administration with experience providing leadership for both co- curricular and academic support programs that enhance student success, retention and graduation. He has received awards and recognition from the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, the National Resource Center on the First Year Experience and Students in Transition, the National Academic Advising Association, the Association of American Colleges and Universities, and the American College Personnel Association for his work and research. His research interests include issues impacting the success of first-year college students, with an emphasis on learning communities and civic engagement. Previously Ross served as the Editor of the Journal of Learning Communities Research, and has also served as chair of the National Learning Communities Conference.

Background

Before coming to Northeastern, Ross was Associate Provost for Student Success at University of North Texas-Dallas and prior to that, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Learning at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis.  

Additional Information

Dr. Ross is very involved in higher education professional associations, primarily the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA).  He previously served on the NASPA James E. Scott Academy Board for Chief Student Affairs Officers.  He currently serves on the NASPA Board of Directors as the national director for knowledge communities.  Dr. Ross will be the Chair for the 2016 NASPA annual conference.
