High school graduation or equivalent; and,
36 months of work experience performing routine clerical/office work including use of computer systems comparable to that performed at the Office Support Associate level or in other positions of comparable responsibility or
36 semester hours of college or university course work in Office Occupations, Business Administration, Business Education or closely related fields, and 12 months of work experience performing routine clerical/office work including use of computer systems comparable to that performed at the Office Support Associate level or in other positions of comparable responsibility or
36 semester hours of vocational training which provided a knowledge of generally accepted clerical procedures, and 12 months of work experience performing routine clerical/office work including use of computer systems comparable to that performed at the Office Support Associate level or in other positions of comparable responsibility or
60 semester hours of college or university course work in any curriculum, and 12 months of work experience performing routine clerical/office work including use of computer systems comparable to that performed at the Office Support Associate level or in other positions of comparable responsibility or
Any combination of work experience, course work, and training totaling 36 months.
$15.50 per hour
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
(Hours may vary depending on departmental needs)

Under direct supervision and leadership of the Department Chair of CMT and the Coordinator/Chair of Philosophy, the incumbent provides executive support to the Chair and Coordinator as per the office management principles on day-to-day functions of administrative/financial/managerial and organizational nature. The incumbent is pro-actively engaged in performing multi-faceted administrative tasks, duties and responsibilities with initiatives, professional skills, knowledge of departmental programs/practices/procedures, and decision-making discretion. The incumbent assists the Chair and Coordinator in successful planning and management of various projects of the department to achieve the goals and mission of the University (NEIU). The incumbent executes their assigned duties with supervisory responsibilities for staff and their job functions. Job duties are characterized by high impact activities that do affect other departments and programs within the University.
This position is responsible for the implementation of departments of CMT and Philosophy and university (NEIU) policies and procedures; the management of student issues, questions and concerns; the planning, administration and execution of short- and long-term Department activities; reviewing and monitoring department fiscal transactions and financial accounts; and supervising, directing, and coordinating department staff (e.g., student workers and graduate students). This position also assists the Department Chair and Coordinator in meeting deadlines and conducting research about a variety of project-based assignments (e.g., program evaluation, reporting, new faculty needs, search and screen documentation, accreditation activities and reporting), and serving as the primary resource for, and liaison to, external entities (e.g. other NEIU offices).
