Northeastern Illinois University invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Field Experience Placements and School Partnerships.
Full-Time, Continuing Position
Under general supervision of the Director of the Clinical Experiences and Student Teaching Office, the Coordinator of Field Experience Placements and School Partnerships works closely with PK-12 school personnel to secure appropriate placements each semester for approximately 300-400 teacher candidates housed within the Educational Inquiry and Curriculum Studies; Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Athletics; Teacher Education; and Special Education Departments. The Coordinator of Field Experience Placements and School Partnerships also assists the Director of Clinical Experiences and Student Teaching Office and PK-12 school administrators in establishing partnerships and with matters related to students’ pre-student teaching clinical and student teaching placements and experiences.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Coordinator of Field Experience Placements and School Partnerships reports to the Director of Clinical Experiences and Student Teaching (CEST) Office, who reports to the Dean of the College of Education (COE). The Coordinator of Field Experience Placements and School Partnerships will work extensively with school district administrators and building principals to maintain positive school-university relationships and provide high quality placements for teacher candidates. The Coordinator of Field Experience Placements and School Partnerships also will work with university supervisors, faculty, and teacher candidates on field experience placements.
The Coordinator of Field Experience Placements and School Partnerships will secure pre-student teaching clinical and student teaching placements for approximately 300-400 teacher candidates each semester. The Coordinator of Field Experience Placements and School Partnerships will manage the field experience placement efforts of other CEST Office members and process all placement requests by PK-12 schools, teacher candidates, and COE faculty. The Coordinator of Field Experience Placements and School Partnerships also will oversee and analyze teacher candidates’ early field experience, pre-student teaching clinical, and student teaching placements to ensure compliance with COE, Illinois licensure, and CAEP requirements.
The Coordinator of Field Experience Placements and School Partnerships will create and maintain an extensive database of Chicago area schools for use by the CEST Office, COE, academic programs, and other NEIU units. The Coordinator of Field Experience Placements and School Partnerships also will develop and manage online data collection instruments, oversee and maintain online and offline collection of placement and evaluation data for use in reports, including but not limited to, CAEP, NEIU, the COE, Departments, Programs, and other internal and external publics.
The Coordinator of Field Experience Placements and School Partnerships also will develop and support electronic placement processes with Chicago area school district administrators and building principals to effectively and efficiently make pre-student teaching and student teaching placements in a timely manner.
The Coordinator of Field Experience Placements and School Partnerships will initiate and coordinate school-university partnership building endeavors such as a PK-12 school administrator and teacher advisory board, the annual student teacher-mentor event, and professional development opportunities for cooperating teachers.
This position is a coordination/technology driven, support resource that facilitates the establishment of school-university partnerships and field experience placements. The Coordinator of Field Experience Placements and School Partnerships needs to understand state licensure and academic program requirements and to effectively communicate such requirements to PK-12 school administrators and teachers, teacher candidates, and university supervisors.
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred, preferably in an education-related field. This position requires excellent communication skills (verbal and written); demonstrated knowledge of PK-12 schools and education; demonstrated, extensive knowledge of and fluency in word processing, databases, spreadsheet programs; ability to supervise staff; and ability to relate to and work with diverse constituents. Experience in PK-12 education and higher education is preferred.
Salary and Benefits:
