Northeastern to host Sixth Annual Student Research Symposium

Corrie Moreau, associate curator of the Field Museum of Natural History, will deliver the keynote speech on Friday, Sept. 26, as Northeastern Illinois University’s Student Center for Science Engagement will host its Sixth Annual Student Research Symposium. The symposium showcases the research conducted through the SCSE’s summer internship program during which Northeastern science students work with faculty on a broad array of research projects.

Northeastern Illinois University receives largest GEAR UP partnership grant in the U.S.

Northeastern Illinois University, in partnership with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) District 299, has been awarded a $40 million grant over seven years by the U.S. Department of Education to help at-risk students prepare for success in postsecondary education. Under the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) program, the U.S. Department of Education awarded 41 grants across the county, totaling $82 million.

Ensemble Espanol to participate in Chicago Artists Month

Ensemble Espanol Spanish Dance Theater, a company that is in residence at Northeastern Illinois University, will participate in this year’s Chicago Artists Month programming with four events. Ensemble Espanol will present two open rehearsals for the general public and two performances of “Tales of Spain” for school-age children. All performances will take place at Northeastern Illinois University, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Chicago.
