Accountant I

Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (120 semester hours) of college coursework and/or training in Accounting or closely related field including 12 semester hours in, or
  • Three years of work experience and/or training in Accounting or closely related field, or
  • A combination of on-the-job training and education that totals 3 years (education must be supplemented by 12 semester hours of credit in accounting)

The position requires a background check.


This position reports to the Chief Accountant, who reports to the Controller. The Accountant I, under the direction of the Chief Accountant, supports tasks in accomplishing goals and duties related to the general accounting functionality at the University.

Responsible for the University's Fixed Assets which includes reconciling vouchers, capitalization of assets entries, depreciating entries and fiscal reporting (which includes, but not limited to, State reports such as ARPUR and C-15). All assets are analyzed and reviewed for accuracy with AMP, formerly InCircuit, database asset listing.

Responsible for monthly reconciliation of assigned accounts between sub ledger and ledger. Prepares and post year end journal entries/GASB entries.  Prepares audit schedules and financial reports as needed. Assists auditors in their inquiries.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


$45,747 per year


Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Hours may vary depending on departmental needs)
