Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) is a fully accredited comprehensive public state university located in a residential area of Chicago, which serves 10,801 commuter students and offers more than 70 undergraduate and graduate programs in the arts, sciences, education, and business. NEIU was ranked one of the most diverse universities in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report (2011) and is one of the few four-year, public universities in the Midwest federally designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution. The NEIU McNair Program was funded in 2003 with a Department of Education four-year grant. Demonstrating satisfaction with the achievements of the NEIU McNair objectives in previous years, the Department of Education has re-awarded NEIU with three consecutive grants.
