Welcome to Northeastern Illinois University. We are delighted you are considering pursuing graduate studies at Northeastern.
Step 1. Submit a completed Admission Application to Graduate Admissions and Records as per the deadline schedule for each semester provided with the application materials. Provide all supporting documents for your application to be complete.
Step 2. The completed application and documents are first evaluated by Graduate Admissions and Records staff to determine initial admission eligibility. The file is then forwarded to a program advisor for departmental review.
Step 3. The program advisor evaluates the application and then forwards the admission recommendation to Graduate Admissions and Records.
Step 4. Graduate Admissions and Records notifies you about the decision regarding their admission.

1. Application Form
Please complete and sign the application or Apply online!
2. Application Fee
Please submit an $30 application fee. Checks, bank drafts, or money orders should be made payable to Northeastern Illinois University.
3. Statement of Goals and Objectives
Please provide a personal statement discussing your motivations and goals for graduate study.
4. Transcripts and Exams
Please contact the educational institutions you have attended and request that they send official transcripts and examination scores in sealed envelopes directly to Northeastern. If you attended schools outside of the United States, you must have your transcripts evaluated by Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE) or World Education Services, Inc. (WES). Please note that opened transcripts are not considered official.
5. Letter of Recommendation
Please submit two letters of recommendation on the forms provided for this purpose. These letters should be from persons who can attest to your qualifications such as your professors or employers. If you have been out of school for less than five years, one letter should be from a former professor. Have the person providing a letter of recommendation sign and seal the letter.
Note: If you are applying to the School Leadership (Program Code GX05) program, please submit Applicant Dispositions document with your letters of recommendation.
6. Specific Program Requirements
Individual programs may have additional requirements, such as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or additional letters of recommendation among other possible requirements. Review for your program requirements in Additional Required Documents.
7. Degree Completion
If you haven't graduated when applying for admission, submit a registrar’s statement. This certifies that you are an undergraduate student degree candidate.
8. International Applicants
International Applicants must submit additional documents in support of their application. Please refer to the International Applicants section for full details.
