The Department of Counselor Education at Northeastern Illinois University offers four CACREP-accredited master’s degree programs in counseling. Each program meets the educational requirements for counselor licensure in the State of Illinois:

Graduates of the Couple and Family Counseling program are eligible to obtain the Associate Marriage and Family Therapy (AMFT) and Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) licenses in the State of Illinois.

Rehabilitation Counseling graduates are eligible for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credential. Additionally, the Rehabilitation Counseling program has been awarded a five-year grant through the year 2025 providing full tuition scholarships for rehabilitation counseling students who desire to work in the state-federal vocational rehabilitation system.
