What is the training site address?

How do I access training?

1. Both of the required Ethics Training programs have been integrated into a two-part online session for Northeastern’s employees through the Desire2Learn (D2L) learning management system.

2. Follow the instructions on this worksheet to access D2L and the trainings.

Which browser should I use to take the training?

Use the most recent/up-to-date version of your web browser. Preferred web browsers are Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.

Can I complete the training in separate segments of time or do I have to do it one sitting from beginning to end?

Both parts can be completed in segments or steps. Part I will remember exactly where you left off; however, Part II will start you back within the sub-topic of the training. Part II has chapters with topics and sub-topics. Each sub topic can have various tasks that need to be completed. Please complete all of tasks before logging off and starting a new session.

Can you send the online training email to my personal email address?

All training communications must be sent exclusively via your official University email account. Please check your Northeastern email.

Procedural Questions

I was hired after the online training started. Do I still have to take the online training?

If you started working as an employee after the official 2018 online training period began, you will be placed within the Desire2Learn training program called 2018 Annual Ethics Training and given four weeks to complete the training from your official start date. If you did not complete the training when you were hired, please contact the person who provided your new hire orientation.

I completed ethics training two months ago when I was first hired. Do I still need to complete the online ethics training?

Yes, you must complete both. The Ethics Act requires University employees to complete ethics training within 30 days of the commencement of employment or appointment. It also requires that all employees complete, at least annually, an ethics training program conducted by their university. This training program is intended to allow you to meet your obligation to comply with both requirements.

I wasn't able to complete the online training within the training period. What do I do now?

If you were unable to complete the online training during the training period, you must contact the NEIU Ethics Officer to regain access to the course in Desire2Learn. If you are unable to complete the training, you may be penalized for noncompliance.

I am currently employed by the University, but I never received a notice for the training. What should I do?

If you are currently employed as an employee at NEIU, contact the Office of Human Resources (773) 442-5200 to ensure that your current employment status is accurate and up-to-date. If there are any discrepancies with your employment status, the Ethics Officer will manually enroll you in the course through Desire2Learn.

I am currently on leave from the University. Do I still need to complete the online training?

If your current employment status is anything other than "Active", then you are not required to complete the online version of the NEIU Ethics Training. Once you return from leave, you will be required to take the training provided by the University through Desire2Learn.

I completed my Neiu Ethics Training. Do I need to provide proof?

You will receive an email at the end of the training time frame stating that you successfully completed Parts I and II of the Ethics Training. The NEIU online Ethics Administrator is able to review the status of completion for all of the University accounts. Once you complete the online Ethics Training, you should stop receiving any reminder notices.

I work at another public college or university where I completed Their training for Ethics and/or Sexual Harassment Prevention Training this Fall. Can I get credit for these trainings at Neiu?

Please contact the Ethics Officer to discuss the specifics and be ready to provide your confirmation certifications or emails.
