Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will launch a new Master of Social Work (MSW) program that will be part of Northeastern Illinois University’s Masters of Social Work Program in the College of Arts and Sciences. The MSW will have two tracks- Urban Leadership and Services to Vulnerable Children and Families. We are seeking collaborative, forward-thinking candidates with a focus on research and/or practice experience in medical social work or a related field, such as child welfare, public health, mental health, gerontology or specialized practice areas of health care and leadership. Responsibilities will include leading the development and implementation of an MSW curriculum, teaching in the program, maintaining an active research agenda, and providing service to the campus and community.
A Master of Social Work degree is required. A Ph.D. in Social Work or a related field is strongly preferred, as are three to five years’ experience teaching social work and two to three years of administrative experience in a BSW or MSW program. Candidates should address their abilities to work within a culturally diverse environment and to prepare students to work effectively in a world of increasing diversity in their application.
