Angelina Pedroso Center for Diversity and Intercultural Affairs

CENTER FOR ACADEMIC WRITING (CAW)

CAW supports Writing Intensive Program (WIP) students remotely with appointments via Nmail Hangouts Meet. WIP students will receive information from their faculty member and/or WIP peer tutor. Students can make or change appointments by instant messaging with CAW on Nmail Hangouts Chat or calling (773) 442-4492 and leaving a message. Appointments are required to work with a WIP peer tutor.

learning success center

The LSC offers remote tutoring through Google Meet for general education courses, math, writing, reading and learning support. All tutoring sessions will be available by appointment only. There are no drop-in sessions. All appointments are first-come, first-served and must be made 24 hours in advance between the LSC hours of 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday. To schedule an appointment with a tutor, email the LSC at lsc@neiu.edu and include your name, student ID number, phone number and appointment request (name of the subject/assignment, course name and number, date, time).

Student Leadership Development

Student Pantry

The Student Pantry has made temporary changes to the way it provides services:

  1. Students will now be able to order food online. Nest residents will have their food delivered to the lobby of the Nest, and commuter students will pick up their order in Parking Lot F. Orders will be packaged in plastic bags labeled with the students’ name. Food orders will be made available on Mondays and Thursdays only.
  2. The Greater Chicago Food Depository has suspended deliveries to Northeastern and for this reason we are calling the University community to donate to the Student Emergency Fund to support students experiencing hunger, homelessness and other needs.
  3. Students will be able to provide suggestions for food items generally not offered in the Student Pantry. We will try our best to accommodate those needs (ethnic foods, for example).

Student Union, EVENT and conference services

The Student Union, Event and Conference Services Office has suspended all face-to-face services to allow staff to work remotely in accordance with Northeastern’s COVID-19 recommendations. Undocumented Student Resources

Undocumented Student Resources will continue to offer support from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, by answering emails and calls, and scheduling Google Hangout meetings with current and prospective undocumented students, families and the general public.

Current students will continue to receive e-communications about scholarships, job opportunities, webinars, and other resources that may become available. We will continue to be in touch with state and national partners like the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, Logan Square Neighborhood Association, Erie House, the National Immigration Justice Center, TheDream.US, Presidents' Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, and Immigrants Rising, among others, to address immediate needs of our students and their families.

University Honors Program

The University Police remain operational 24/7. All support services are still available from the police such as safety escorts, jump starts, lockouts etc. The only exception is fingerprinting. We have temporarily suspended our fingerprint service, except for first responders and healthcare professionals, if it assists with hiring.
