Cource Students will
Objectives 1. understand the basic numerical algorithms and their underlying principles
2. obtain the ability to apply those algorithms to solve problems
3. understand the limitation of numerical algorithms and how to assess results
4. obtain the ability to implement basic numerical algorithms using a
programming language
5. communicate (verbally and in writing) the mathematical
ideas of numerical analysis
HOMEWORK Homework will be assigned weekly.
Generally, each assignment is due at the beginning of next
Monday's class, unless announced otherwise. Late work will not
be accepted. Each assignment will be graded on a 10-point basis.
Two worst scores will be droped.
ATTENDANCE Attending class is very important in this course. There are
many in-class projects and practice. Some subjects will not
be found in the textbook. Your attendance may be used in
borderline cases in determining your grade. If you are absent
or late for class, it would be your responsibility to get the
notes and any other information from other students.
