                     Sullivan & sullivan (required)
                 Student Solution Manual (optional)
                 Graphing Calculator (required) -TI85 or TI86 recommended
                 Text and calculator are required at each class session.
Course           A functional approach to College Algebra and Trigonometry, for
Description      students who intend to continue with Calculus I.

Method           Lectures, question and answer sessions, moderated individ- 
of Instruction   ual and group problem solving sessions, hand-in problem 
                 assignments, regular use of technology in and out of the
                 classroom.
Homework         Homework assignment will be announced at end 
and quizes       of every class day and posted on the website. 
                 Homework will be collected at 1:00 pm of every  
                 class day and will be graded. Late homework will  
                 not be accepted but the worst score will be dropped. 
                 Homework will be counted for 100 points and can be used
                 to substitute Exam 1, Exam 2 or Exam 3.
Exams:           Exam 1:      Monday, Sept 29,    100 points 
                 Exam 2:      Monday, Nov. 3,     100 points
                 Exam 3:      Monday, Dec. 1,     100 points

                 Final Exam:  Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2:00-3:50 pm, 200 points
Method           Evaluation of your performance in the course is based on

Grading:         90-100% (360-400 pts): A, 80-89%(320-359 pts): B,
