Mission

TRIO Student Support Services’ (SSS) mission is to support first generation, low income students and students with disabilities in their progress toward graduation. TRIO SSS employs early intervention and communication with faculty to provide needed academic supports.

TRIO Programs are funded through the U.S. Department of Education and are designed to identify and provide services for individuals from undeserved backgrounds. Target populations include:  low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities.

TRIO exists to:

Ensure students academic achievement, leading to college graduation

Support and value individual excellence

Expand cultural and global awareness

Advocate on behalf of students on issues relating to access and success

 

TRIO achieves its goals by providing:

A holistic approach to academic advising

Resources to assist students to turn challenges into achievements

Pathways from NEIU to graduate school enrollment

Networking and leadership opportunities
