Frequently Asked Questions: How Can I Link to the NEIU Phone Directory from My Desktop?
Text Box: If you use the Internet at all, sooner or later you have a favorite site, one you go to nearly every day. A good example is the NEIU phone directory pages. Who wouldn’t like to just double click to find a needed phone number, email address, or office location? Follow the directions below and your life will get just a little bit easier. For Internet Explorer Users <P>1. Open Internet Explorer and adjust the window so that part of the desktop can be seen. (The desktop is the screen with icons that appears when you first start your computer. If the browser window opens to its full size, use the Restore Down button in the upper right corner to make it smaller.) </P><P>2. From the Northeastern homepage (www.neiu.edu), follow these links: Information Resources, University Computing, Telecommunications, Directories, “Alpha and E-mail Address (Web Version in HTML Format)”. </P><P>3. Drag the small icon at the left end of the address bar (just to the left of the URL) to your desktop. To do this, position your mouse pointer over the icon, hold down the left mouse button, and slide the mouse until the pointer is over the desktop area. Then release the mouse. You should see an icon appear on your desktop linking to the Alpha and E-mail Address directory. </P>If you also want a link to the Department listings, close the current window to return to the Directories page, click the “Departments and Office Listings (Web Version in HTML Format)” link, and repeat step 3. For Netscape Navigator Users Open Netscape Navigator and adjust the window so that part of the desktop can be seen.
