The Multimedia Learning Resource Center (MLRC), located on the 3rd Floor of the Library, was established for the purpose of providing access to multimedia equipment and software in support of the University's curricula and educational initiatives. It offers a unique combination of services, resources, multimedia equipment and materials for NEIU students, faculty and staff. In addition to circulating the Library's media collection, the MLRC staff provides a wide range of basic to advanced training to all authorized users on the Center's equipment and software programs. This includes instruction in the use of music software, including the burning of CDs and the use of MIDI keyboards, and the conversion of short VHS clips to digital format. A scanner is also available for the scanning of documents. Supporting the Library's collection of educational software, MLRC staff will assist users in loading educational software on selected workstations for evaluation. For more intensive, one-on-one instruction in the use of the MLRC equipment and software, contact Pele Milenkovic at x4494, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm.
In addition to the above services, a member of the MLRC staff is assigned as the Library's liaison to the University's Accessibility Center. Joanne Trujillo assists students with special needs that are referred by the Accessibility Center with individual research projects.
Faculty members may contact Bob Condren, the MLRC coordinator, (x4495, to discuss accommodations for specific services and needs for class projects or for any other questions regarding MLRC services and facilities. Faculty should contact Access Services at x4400 for scanning services related to reserve materials or Blackboard.
The MLRC is open only to NEIU students, faculty and staff. Services and resources are limited to supporting the educational and staff needs of the University and a valid NEIU ID card is required to use the facilities. The MLRC is open Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 9:30 pm, Friday, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, Saturday, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm and Sunday, 12 noon to 4:30 pm.
A complete description of MLRC resources, services and policies is available at or stop by during business hours and talk to any one of the knowledgeable staff.
