Greetings Friends and Colleagues,

Once again it seems like the last eight months has flown by since the Fall Issue, # 27, of the Ripple Effect was published. Our efforts continue to help educators of all kinds understand the power in the process of Adventure Based Experiential Education. The 17th Annual T.E.A.M. Conference, February 9 and 10, 2006 was another wonderful gathering. The 300 participants at the keynote luncheon address on Saturday, gave  standing ovations to Henry Cilly and the students of Deb Perryman, from Elgin High School. These teens shared their service based environmental and community projects. It was inspiring to listen to young adults making a positive difference in their community and the world.

Dr. Jane Goodall visited Northeastern in Fall, 2005 and gave a lecture on our connection to the natural world, and the importance of protecting all living things. She shared wonderful stories and held the attention of the 600 people in attendance for well over an hour. She finished by stating how it is the children who provide the hope for our future, and we must support and listen to them. She shared amazing stories of things children have done to sustain the animals, plants, and people on our planet. Dr. Goodall then calmly signed books for over three hours until every person who waited in line received an inscription. There is a calmness and peace about her which she shares with everyone she meets.

The 12th Annual Wisdom of the Elders Gathering will be held at the Mantle Rock Native Education and Cultural Center, in Marion, Kentucky. The meeting dates are September 29, 30, and October 1, 2006. Look for the details on our web site at www.neiu,edu/~team. This gathering is small and intimate, where you can meet and talk individually with all the speakers. We have people traveling in from across the country to present. If you have any questions, please contact us here at T.E.A.M.

We wish you a wonderful summer filled with adventure and balanced with reflection.

Off Belay,

Dan Creely Jr.
