WISDOM OF THE
ELDERS 10th ANNUAL GATHERING -
EVERYONE IS WELCOME
Friday, October
8 - Sunday, October 10
ANCIENT
ANCESTRAL TEACHINGS FROM MANY CULTURES
"The whole idea
of pilgrimage is translating into a literal, physical act - the pilgrimage
of moving into the center of your own heart."(From Joseph Campbell's Transformations
of Myths through Time.) Take time for yourself to come, sit, listen, and
learn from respected elders from many cultures. The open space format beginning
Friday evening will help build a sense of community by having the elders
and participants agree on the direction, content, and format of the weekend.
A peace pole will be planted as part of the closing ceremony Sunday morning.
Traditional Native American food will be prepared and shared at some of
the meals.

LOCATION:
White Oak

Salem, Kentucky

Phone# 270-988-3820
www.whiteoakhunt.com
( Go to Mapquest.com
for specific directions.) From Illinois or Indiana, pick up Route
1 south to Cave-in-the-Rock. The ferry across the Ohio river only runs
to 9 pm. After 9 pm you will need to find an alternative route.
(If people
need to cross the river after 9:00pm:
Take 57 south
to Marion, IL.2. Exit hwy 13 and go East. If you need gas or
coffee, get it now because there are few stations open late at night east
of here, until you get to Marion. If you are late at night going
through the countryside, pull over when you get to the Shawnee National
Forest. Turn off the engine and the lights and look at the stars
and listen to the evening, it's an unforgetable experience.3. You
will pass a N/S Hwy #! which you would take if you were going to take the
ferry. This time, you will go past the stop, and go straight past
Shawneetown until you cross the river on a bridge without a toll.
Hwy 13 becomes Hwy 56 on the other side.4. In a couple of minutes,
you will intersect with Hwy 109, go south to Sturgis.5. In Sturgis,
intersect with either/or Hwys 141 / 60 going south into Marion.
I41 becomes 60?6. Hwy 60 will bring you right into downtown Marion.
There is a gas station on the town square corner that is open 24 hours.
Hope this helps.)

More hook ups can be provided, but we would need to know two weeks in advance.

Workshop
2:
Discovering
Your Piece of the Puzzle, Healing Through Nature
Saturday,
November 20, 2004.
A Day for
environmentally conscious educators and citizens.
One of the
ways in which the ripple effect can begin its journey outward is through
education. In partnership with Rita Hickman of the Crystal Lake Illinois
Park District's Nature Center, the Raven's Way is assisting in sponsoring
the second annual environmental symposium, Discovering Your Piece of the
Puzzle, Healing Through Nature on Saturday, November 20, 2004. The
symposium will begin at 9:15 AM. An informal "meet and greet" session
over a continental breakfast will precede the event. Symposium registration
fees include lunch.
This year's
symposium theme, Healing Through Nature, transcends traditional environmental
conservation to focus on allowing its participants to reconnect with the
earth, with each other and with themselves. We will have a panel
of presenters/facilitators who through their life's experiences will show
the healing powers of the natural world. The symposium will take
place at the Crystal Lake Illinois Park District's Nature Center.
The Nature Center is an optimal facility for such an event. Located
amongst protected wetlands, woodlands, and prairie, the Nature Center is
an ideal year-round refuge for all.
Fees are $12
resident, $18 nonresident.
REGISTRATION
INFORMATION: For ALL information on registration
and fees, please contact the Crystal Lake
Park District Nature Center at 815-455-1763, or e-mail Ron Eberle at TheRavensWay@aol.com.
