Zoom
by Chris Cavert
ZOOM – This activity
is very challenging but works well to emphasize how
people communicate
what they see. Pick up the paperback book, ZOOM or
Re-Zoom by Istvan
Banyai (the cheapest place to get them is on the web from
a used book site).
Cut off the binding (office supply store can do this
well). Laminate
the pages!! To play, hand out one picture to each player in a
group of 15 to 30
people. Then have the group get in picture order (you will
understand when
you see the book) – players can only verbally describe what
their picture is.
I also just discovered a simpler variation. Obtain some 12
piece puzzles –
the elementary kind with the big pieces. Divide you group
into small teams
of 12 (or less if needed). Give each member of the team one
(or 2 if needed)
piece(s) of the puzzle. Then each team has the objective to
put their puzzle
together. This is done by every team member describing his
or her piece without
showing it to anyone. Players then move around to get
into puzzle order.
When they believe they are all in the correct orientation
they can piece their
puzzle together – again, only when they all agree they
are in “puzzle order”. |
