"AEE Update"
by Sylvia Dresser

AEE continues to be the professional organization of choice for many in the fields of adventure education, experiential education, and related areas. One of the main reasons is the wonderful conferences that are held each year - regional conferences in the spring, and the International Conference in the fall.

The Heartland Region Conference was held this year March 10-12 at George Williams College in Williams Bay, WI. Over 230 people attended - played with Karl Rohnke, listened to an inspiring keynote by Dennis Van Roekel of the National Education Association, and attended 40 workshops on a variety of topics. Next year's Heartland Conference will be held March 16-18 at Bradford Woods, in Martinsville, Indiana, just south of Indianapolis. It's a beautiful facility, and promises to be another great conference.

On the International Conference Horizon, this is what is planned for the next two years:

28th Annual AEE International Conference - November 2-5,2000-Tucson, Arizona The Rocky Mountain Region and AEE are pleased to announce the 28th Annual AEE International Conference- "A Celebration of Learning: Explore the Vision-Experience the Journey"- which will take place at the Tucson Convention Center in beautiful Tucson, Arizona. Surrounded by the Sonoran Desert, this Conference will provide plenty of outdoor activities, a 60,000 square foot exhibit hall (which will include 70 booths, Career Connections, a technology center, the Mock Classroom, food and entertainment, demonstrations, a climbing wall and kayak tank, and more!), over 140 workshops, 8 live entertainment options, 3 keynote speakers, awesome pre and post-conferences and tours of the area, and more! The Registration Brochure will be mailed to members in mid-April and can be found on our web page at www.aee.org. Come join the fun!!!
