Dear Friends and Colleagues, Dear Friends and Colleagues, It is encouraging to hear how many educators have used this publication as a networking resource to help start their own programs. The Ripple Effect continues to expand. One example was at the 1998 Illinois State Physical Education Convention, in November, in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Over six hundred K-12 educators attended thirteen different adventure-challenge workshops designed to help them gain skills and knowledge in how to initiate programs in their own school. The 10th Annual T.E.A.M. Conference, judging by the response from the five hundred people in attendance at the Saturday lunch, was another successful gathering. The students who shared how adventure/challenge experiences impacted their lives and the keynote "drum circle" experience facilitated by John Yost was another wonderful example of how this process touches the body, mind, and spirit of the participants. The students who spoke reminded us all why we facilitate these programs. John was able to develop a community through rhythm and everyone felt connected as they left for the afternoon sessions. Participants shared how it was "a very, very special" weekend they will remember for a long time. T.E.A.M. is sponsoring several exciting workshops this summer. In May, Ohsahmin Judy Meister, an apprentice to Grandmother Keewaydinoquay, will facilitate an herbal workshop. In June, Karl Rohnke has volunteered to conduct a Foes and Questors workshop to raise funds for the Play for Peace initiative, and Arun and Sonanda Ghandhi will facilitate a week ling Peace in the Classroom seminar. Complete details and contact people are listed on the flyer in this newsletter. We would like to thank all the people who call or write to inform us of changes in their home address or job location, but WE NEED YOUR CONTINUED HELP!!! Bulk rate is the most cost effective way for us to mail out information, three times a year, to approximately 4,500 educators. Since bulk mailings are not forwarded back to us, you become our only source to cull and update our mailing list. If you move, relocate, or do not want to receive our newsletter please write and let us know. We deeply appreciate everyone who honored this request during the past year. Have a safe, exciting and adventurous summer. We hope it is filled with learning through discovery and balanced with reflection. E-mail: Sylvia Dresser (SDres15556@aol.com)

The Ripple EffectFirst, get your own life in order. Ground yourself in the single principle so that your behavior is wholesome and effective. If you do that, you will earn respect and be a powerful influence. Your behavior influences others through a ripple effect. A ripple effect works because everyone influences everyone else. Powerful people are powerful influences. If your life works, you influence your family. If your family works, your family influences the community. If your community works, your community influences the nation. If your nation works, your nation influences the world. If the world works, the ripple effect spreads throughout the cosmos. Remember that your influence begins with you and ripples outward. So be sure that your influence is both potent and wholesome. How do I know that this works? All growth spreads outward from a fertile and potent nucleus. You are a nucleus. John
