Born in Dixon, New Mexico, Ms. O. Evalyn Vigil-McCoy has spent most of her adult life in the Chicago area where she is Professor of Social Work. She is a graduate of the School of Social Service Administration, University of Chicago and McCormick Theological Seminary's Church and Community Program. Her special interests and expertise within the profession include Administration and Planning and Social Work Practice with Families. Her primary interest has been in working with Hispanic families first as therapist and then as educator and trainer of undergraduate social work students. Consulting activities address cross cultural issues in the community using a strengths perspective. She has been a member and officer of many social service agency boards including the United Way of Chicago. Activities within the church include Chair of the Christian Education Board; Steering Committee of the Mission Board; a member of the Diversity Task Force, Women's Retreat Committee and Nominating committee.
