TO ALL STUDENTS: if you have changed your address or phone number we need to know immediately. Please talk to Susan at ext. 4760 or e-mail her at s-martel@neiu.edu

As of January, 2000: Once a student has declared social work as their major they must complete the social work program within a five year period from the time they entered the social work practice curriculum. This means that once students have their first social work practice course, they must complete the field and other requirements for the major in five years.  Rationale: As a professional program that prepares students for social work practice upon graduation, we must be certain that being exposed to the most current knowledge an skills.  We are required to have students bridge theory with developing their skills in the a field practicum.  For this reason the classroom preparation and the field practicum should be in close proximity to each other.

All students entering field practicum, 2001: The research practicum courses (SWK-310 and SWK-311) have been changed to 3 credit hours each. Therefore, all students will only be required to complete 2 elective social work course--one pre-practice and one post-practice.
