For all of us here at Northeastern, we have the privilege of an active environmental group, Green Cycle Group (GCG), who are "working to promote an environmentally friendly campus."  They have been integral in the addition of the recycling bins located throughout the Student Union; these allow for the separation of not only paper but also plastic, glass, and cans.  Among other projects, GCG has worked to have more bike racks placed throughout the campus along with a covered bike rack by the PE Building.  They have also done things such as setting up info tables and planning special events to raise awareness and initiate discussion pertaining to environmental concerns.  Currently Green Cycle Group is working to promote a more thorough recycling program in addition to encouraging double-sided printing in the computer labs.
GCG most recently planned an Earth Day Fair for April 20th which included special events and information tables;  included in the day was a presentation by guest speaker Michael Hawthorne, Chicago Tribune Environmental Reporter and a Peace Fire Ceremony.  To learn more about Green Cycle Group, visit them at http://www.neiu.edu/~gcgroup.
