NDSL/Federal Perkins Loan

Apply to the FINANCIAL AID OFFICE

 

To qualify for this loan:

You must completed an ENTRANCE interview.

You must be carrying at least a half-time course load.

Prior to graduation or transfer to another institution you must complete an EXIT interview at NEIU.

To arrange for an interview – contact the Student Loan Department at: 773-442-5175 or your Loan Specialist.

 

THIS IS IMPORTANT… Exit and Entrance interviews start promptly – latecomers are required to reschedule.

 

The Student Loan Department must be notified immediately of any changes in status (marital/job/address/course etc).

 

Emergency Loan

AVAILABLE ON THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS

 

To qualify for this loan:

You must confirm your classes for the current term.

You must have repaid all previous Emergency Loan balances.

You must not have taken out an Emergency Loan within the last 30 days.

You must NOT be a Civil Service Employee.

 

Loans will be available after 3:00 PM on the day following application EXCEPT:

FOR THE FIRST MONTH OF EACH TERM… If you turn in your application after 2:00 PM, you will receive your check in the next two days after 3:00 PM.

 

Every term, a week before the Student Refund Check Distribution and the week of the Student Refund Check Distribution, NO Emergency Loan applications will be accepted. Please check the Schedule Of Classes for the Student Refund Check Distribution dates.

 

NO Emergency Loans will be processed 30 days before the last day of classes at Northeastern Illinois University.

 

Student Refund Check

OVERPAYMENT & FINANCIAL AID REFUNDS

 

ALL CHECKS MUST BE PICKED UP IN PERSON WITH TWO FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION:

NEIU identification card is mandatory – You can pick one up at the Information Desk

A Drivers License or State ID is the preferred second ID

 

For the students who take class at CICS campus and wish to pick up your refund check at CICS, please contact Ms. Trena Waddy-Jones at (773) 268-7500 Ext. 121 or fax 773 / 256-2030.

 

Note:    Each term one week after the last drop-date of classes, all checks will be mailed regardless the amount of the check or types of the check if there is no outstanding balance in your student account. Therefore, you must up-date with Admissions & Records Office if there is any changes in your address.
