BIOGRAPHY


Suzanne G. Benson (Ph.D., University of Illinois , Champaign-Urbana) is an Associate Professor in the Human Resource Development Program.  Dr. Benson holds a doctorate in Human Resource Development from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, with a concentration in evaluation, an M.A. in Business and Interpersonal Communication Studies from Governors State University, and a B.A. in English and Physical Education from Central Michigan University. 

 Dr. Benson teaches courses in Evaluation, Adult Learning and Development, Group Dynamics, Strategic Planning, Organization Development, Presentation and Facilitation Skills, and Career Planning.  Her research areas of interest include: group dynamics and e-learning, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs as it relates to the training environment, e-learning and task analysis, training and organization development, male/female communication styles, barriers to communication, stress management, organizational communication, temperament, personality and training, group cohesion, organizational systems, and others. 

 Dr. Benson has numerous years consulting with business, groups, and organizations, and has made presentations nationally and internationally on Human Resource Management and Development topics.  Dr. Benson is affiliated with numerous associations including: Chicago Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development, the Organization Development Institute, the Organization Development Network, and the Society for Human Resource Management.
