Geisha Saying Welcome

Irasshaimase

This is the Japanese word for "welcome." Many restaurants instruct employees to greet customers this way.  The Japanese characters for this word appear behind the bowing woman. (If she stops moving, refresh the page.)

Kampai

This is the Japanese equivalent of "cheers."

Itadakimasu 

The Japanese say this prior to eating any meal. 
It means literally, "I will receive." 

Domo arigato

Thank you

Gochiso--sama

This means literally, "it was a feast." 
This is said at the end of the meal to express one's gratitude.
