Ever been to a Japanese restaurant and wondered what to do with all those little dishes? This site is for all those intrepid souls who would like to learn more about Japanese table manners
First, some good news and some bad news. The bad news--the Japanese culture does place a great emphasis on always using the proper etiquette. The good news--in Japan, it is basically assumed that non-Japanese will not be able to master all the nuances of good Japanese manners anyway.
Learning some basic manners may make your next trip to a Japanese restaurant more comfortable and, more importantly, more fun.

The banner above the title of this site is a noren, a fabric curtain that traditionally would hang above the entrance of shops or restaurants in Japan.
