Built-in Support - Macintosh

Macintosh OS X comes with numerous technologies built into the operating system. These means that your computer is capable of a variety of functions without needing to install additional software.

Introduction

WPA Wireless Client

Mac OS X comes with built-in wireless encryption technology. This technology makes it difficult for hackers to intercept your information when you use wireless networks.

PDF Creation

PDF (Portable Document Format) is a standard format that allows users to share their documents with others even though the recipient may not have the program which created the document. All that the recipient needs is a PDF-readable program such as Adobe Reader or Apple’s Preview application.

To create a PDF on Mac OS X:

  1. 1.Open the document you want to convert to PDF.

  2. 2.Go to the File menu and select Print.

  3. 3.In the Print Dialog Box, click on the PDF button and select Save as PDF.

  4. 4.Select a location to save the PDF file.

Compressing Files

Compressing files and folders will create a copy of your information and place it into a single, compressed file. The compressed file takes up less room and is useful for making backup copies of your data or for sending information across the Internet. Simply select and right-click on the files you wish to compress and select Compress # Items from the contextual menu.
