Description

Each fall, an outstanding senior from each of the four-year degree-granting institutionsof higher learning in Illinois is awarded the Student Lincoln Academy Medallion and thereby becomes a Student Laureate of The Lincoln Academy of Illinois. Student Laureates are honored for their overall excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities. The Dean’s Council at Northeastern has the honor of selecting our Student Laureate.

Each Student Laureate will be presented the following in recognition of outstanding achievement:

  • The Lincoln Academy Student Laureate Medallion
  • A certificate of achievement, and
  • A monetary grant in the amount of $1000

The Student Laureate Award Ceremony will take place in Springfield, Illinois on Saturday, November 2nd, 2013.

Ashor Jajou

Ashor is a Social Work major, in the University Honors Program and McNair Scholars Program. He is currently the Student Government Association President, services on the University Advisory Council and University Planning and Budget Council and the Student Rights and Responsibilities Committee. Ashor served as an Alternative Spring Break leader in Spring 2013, where he helped build the village at the Cherokee Nation Historical Museum. He has also served as a part-time mentor for at-risk youth and advocates for ex-offenders to obtain jobs through FORCE – Fighting to Overcome Records and Create Equality. He currently has a 3.97 grade point average.
