Careers in Student Affairs Exploration Program


Program Description


The Careers in Student Affairs Exploration Program (CISA EP) at Northeastern Illinois University is a series of workshops, panel discussions and professional development opportunities designed to help undergraduate students (and Northeastern alumni) learn more about Student Affairs as a profession and strategies for pursuing and obtaining a career in Student Affairs.

What you will Learn


Students that complete the Careers in Student Affairs Exploration Program will enhance their knowledge about career opportunities within higher education and student affairs and apply this knowledge to their pursuit of a graduate education and/or a career in student affairs. You will be able to:

  • Name the offices within Student Affairs at Northeastern
  • Name at least three career options within Student Affairs that match their current interests and experiences
  • Articulate realistic expectations about the operations of student affairs
  • Develop a plan for pursuing a graduate education within a higher education program and/or pursue a career in student affairs

General Information and Expectations


  • Students that wish to participate in this program must submit a completed application and availability schedule
  • Priority consideration will be given to students that have consistent attendance and participation in program activities
  • Business casual attire is expected at all program activities (meetings with mentors, workshops, etc.)

  • CISA EP Seminar: "History of Student Affairs" with Dr. Frank E. Ross
