New Student & Family Programs
Family & Parent Programing
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the extended Northeastern family. We know that the support of family members is vital to student success, especially at commuter institutions like Northeastern. Therefore, we invite you to become engaged in our community.
Our students' success is a goal shared by all of us. Please consider becoming a part of this important effort. We look forward to creating a productive and rewarding relationship with you.
The Division of Student Affairs connects you to people and programs that are here to help you and your student to be successful. Here are just a few of the programs we have in place for parents and families of students through New Student and Family Programs:
Family Orientation for families of newly admitted students covers an overview of services, university expectations, a tour of our beautiful campus, and much more. The program is designed to assist you, the family, with becoming stress free about your student's academic career and overall success.
Registration will open approximately one month prior to each orientation session.
For more information, please visit our Family Orientation page or contact us at (773) 442-5373.
University Family Guide
A University Family Guide has recently been published which contains useful information about NEIU and helpful tips in supporting your students as they progress toward earning their degrees.
Family Programming Council
By joining the Family Programming Council, parents can share input and ideas on how the University can expand and enhance student-focused and family-oriented programs and services. For more information, and/or to become a member, please contact NSFP at (773) 442-5373.
Enjoy a complimentary meal with other Northeastern families and Student Affairs staff. This event provides an opportunity for families to visit campus, network with other Northeastern families and staff, and learn about some of the university's services.
April/May in the University Commons
The Family Programming Committee of Student Affairs and Northeastern Programming Board (NPB) invite all of Northeastern's students, staff, and faculty to bring their families for Northeastern's Family Day each spring in the University Commons. This is a free event for the entire NEIU community.
The celebration kicks off with free food (while supplies last), balloons, and games, with many more fun events and activities throughout the day. The event concludes with a free family-friendly movie screening.
Presented by the Family Programming Committee of Student Affairs and Northeastern Programming Board (NPB). For more information, contact NSFP (773) 442-5373 or NPB (firstname.lastname@example.org, ext. 4590).
