Survey Summary
31 of 99 users responded to the survey,
for a good response rate of 31%.
A large majority of users (70%) used LearnItOnline for
1 - 3 courses.
Rather surprisingly, users rated the content, quality and
helpfulness at nearly the same level: 3.77, 3.70 and 3.69 respectively, on a
scale of 1 - 5. In other words, on average users found it nearly
'Very Good' in all three catagories.
Users generally found LearnItOnline easy to follow and navigate,
and they appreciated the self-paced style. Many commented on its helpfulness
as a learning tool.
However a few users had difficulty using it, or found it hard to get
started or remember the login procedures.
A number of users noted that no feedback of progress or
self-testing was available. And users could not 'ask questions'. Others noted
that they didn't use it frequently or consistently due to workload demands or
office interruptions.
During each semester an informal group of LearnItOnline
users could meet once every week or two, to help motivate users to continue with the
courses, and perhaps allow users to answer each other's questions.
Overall, users found LearnItOnline good for introductions
to various subject areas, and to evaluate what in-depth training they could use,
but that it was not for complex or advanced tasks.
Also, it should not be the sole training available at
NEIU, but it could be used with other training modalities.
