THAI-ADOPT DATABASE, DIRECTORY, AND NEWSLETTER
 

The Thai-Adopt Database and Directory is an international index of families who have adopted children from Thailand. This volunteer project, begun in 1998, currently lists more than 300 families around the world (mostly in the U.S. but also in 19 other countries), with children ranging from toddlers to young adults. Membership is limited to families who have adopted children from Thailand, families who have formally begun the Thai adoption process, and adult Thai adoptees.

Database information is created and maintained solely to serve the communication and networking needs of the members. Information is available only to members, who are accepted by approval of the database administrator. Prospective members must submit an information form to the administrator, agreeing to have family data included in the database. Family information is not posted on the Internet, is maintained on a secure non-networked computer, and is never knowingly used for marketing or advertising purposes.

Listed families receive periodic directories by e-mail. Hard copies are available to database members for a nominal fee. Directories include an alphabetical family list, a geographical index, a special needs index, and an orphanage index.

Database member families also receive a periodic Thai adoption newsletter, which is distributed by e-mail. No conventional mailing service is currently available for this newsletter. Back issues are included with printed directories for families who do not have access to e-mail.
