South Chicago Landmarks

      South Chicago is the oldest and most populous of the Southeast Side communities and has the largest number of landmarks.  There are also several South Chicago sites listed in the City of Chicago Historic Resources Survey.  There are currently two official City of Chicago Historic Landmarks in South Chicago.  They are the Peoples Gas Store and the Drake Fountain also known as the Columbus Monument.  There are numerous other interesting historic sites which do not have official landmark status.
