      Industry has always been a big part in American life, especially in the South Chicago area. In South Chicago, all there was in the area were gigantic factories that produced steel. In this area alone there were three different steel factories one of them was, U.S. Steel located on 79th St. to 92nd St. along the shore of Lake Michigan.  Having industries like this located in one area attracted many working class citizens into the area making South Chicago  very diverse and greatly populated part of Chicago.
