Hegewisch Industry Introduction

Industry has been an important part of the development of Hegewisch.  Many businesses have developed to support the economy of what was once a small town and is now a community of Chicago.
There are many kinds of industries.  Small industries were created in order to satisfy the needs and wants of the community.  Large industries were developed and employed the people living in the area so they could earn a living.  Industries such as United States Rolling Stock Company and Ford Motor Company have helped to make this community more attractive to past and present settlers seeking jobs.
