East Side Theater

All of the Southeast Side neighborhoods
had local movie theaters. The East Side neighborhood was served by
the East Side Theater located on 105th and Ewing Avenue. The theater
was built in the mid 1920's and was one of the first in the area to have
air conditioning. It was a popular entertainment venue for residents
of the area. Although the theater has long since closed, the building
is still in use by a local financial institution.
