Because the railroad tracks which are located behind this house begin to curve and reduce the depth of the lot, the house sits sideways on the lot, a very unusual configuration for a city lot.  Also because of the unusual shape of the lot the garage is situated next to the house and opens on to the street.  There is no alley behind this house.
