The Reading Development Program

Welcome Letter from the Coordinator

Dear Student,

Welcome to The Reading Development Program at Northeastern Illinois University.

We look forward to sharing exciting, enriching literacy experiences with you within our DEV READ courses. Each course is designed to actively engage you in the reading process and is both meaningful and purposeful. At the end of each semester, students write comments to their teachers. The three that follow are representative of those that we have received year after year; I will let actual student comments speak for our program:

"I think the class's homework, exams and papers will help increase my knowledge."

"The homework and assignments were valuable and fair with some difficulty. Every assignment we had for this course was valuable because I got something out of everything we did in this course."

"Thank you. I now love to read."

Some of the adjectives that students have used to describe RDP instructors include Great, Nice,
Fun, Helpful, Tough, Humorous, Well Spoken, Good Attitude,
and Organized.

Join us in a community of shared reading experiences. We look forward to reading and learning with you.

A book burrows into your life in a very profound way because the experience of reading is not passive.
