The Worlds Worst Website

Question:What are the things that make a good Home Page??

Answer: The home page that is the front page of the website should be helpful to the people visiting the website. It should not have junk information which the person puts up just as a placeholder. It should be both helpful to the person visiting the website and also explain what the person entitles to gain from the website. It should not just contain links to the other pages but also give an explaination of what the links would lead to. It depends on what kind of website it is for. If the website should be gaming website then the website should have links to the games which are being provided. It should not contain information such as where the games come from and a whole page information on each game. If needed the user shd be given a short description of the game with a link to a brief description of the game if need be. You can do this by using links to a whole other page.

Question: What should be a good layout and design for the Home Page

Answer: With regards to the layout and design good pages do not overuse inline images for their own sake, and have a consistent layout and organization. The more extensive the page or pages, the more important it is to have navigational aids like "what's new" pages and tables of contents. Also, do not go overboard with slow-loading graphics, and optimize the graphics you do use by making them smaller and using few colors.

What should be the original content?

Answer: This overlaps to some extent with the first point, but is worth elaborating. One of the main things that makes a Home Page good is that it is unique. Given the vastness of the Net, what makes pages unique is generally the personal material that the author brings to the table.

What should the depth of the homepage be?

Answer: The best Home Pages always give you a sense that there is something beneath the surface, and that exploration will be rewarded with new discoveries. This does not necessarily mean dozens of different pages; it is a matter of using hypertext in an intelligent way to expand the impact of the material you do have.

What about creativity?

The HTML markup language gives everyone creating web pages the same set of basic tools. Good Home Pages combine those tools in new and innovative ways, and give Web Surfers a reason to check them out rather than some other, similar pages. The web gives you an opportunity to have your work viewed by literally thousands, or even millions of other people around the world.
