Submission
- Appeals can be submitted one of three ways:
GENERAL INFORMATION
Online Appeals
-
The system will not accept appeals
for violations that are 14 days past the date of issue. Graduation or separation from the University does not cancel parking obligations. The registered vehicle's owner and authorized drivers are responsible for all permits, fines and fees assessed against the
vehicle.
-
- You
will be sent a written
response letter from the
Parking Office within 14
business days. Please
contact the Parking Office
at 773-442-4114 or email:
parking-appeals@neiu.edu
if you do not receive a response to your appeal within 14 days.
Possible Outcomes
-
Excused:
If your
citation is excused, the
parking fine has been
waived and you will no
longer be held
accountable. If the
violation was paid in
advanced, a refund will
be issued.
-
Denied:
If your Appeal has
been denied, this means
that the Parking Appeals
Committee considers you
responsible for the fine
and expects you to pay
the entire parking
violation fine and any
associated late fee
within 14 days of the
decision date.
-
Reduced:
If your citation has
been reduced, this means
that the Parking Appeals
Committee considers you
responsible for the fine
and expects you to pay
the parking violation
fine at a reduced rate
within 14 days from the
decision date.
Appeal Process
- Each ticket must be appealed separately. An appeal can be submitted in writing or on-line as shown
above.
Appeals not submitted within 14 calendar days of issue date are ineligible for consideration.
An appeal will postpone and delay fines/fees until adjudication.
Parking Violation
-
All faculty, staff, students and visitors of the University who wish to appeal a violation must fill
out an appeal form within fourteen (14) days of the ticket issuance. Appeal forms are available
at the Parking Office or online at www.neiu.edu/~park. Failure to appeal within the prescribed time limit shall be deemed a waiver of the right to do so.
-
Appeals are reviewed
by the University
Parking Office. When
a decision is made,
the appellant will
be informed by
postal mail within
fourteen (14) days.
-
If an appeal has
been denied, failure
to pay within
fourteen (14) day
period will result
in additional
penalty fees.
Transcripts and
other documents will
not be released from
Enrollment Services
until such violation
fees are paid.
-
An individual has
the option to
re-appeal if their
first appeal is
denied and wish to
provide additional
information for a
second consideration
before the Parking
Appeals Team. All
requests must be
sent to
parking-appeals@neiu.edu
within fourteen (14)
days of the
University Parking
Office decision
letter and will
receive a response
by email. Any fees
associated with an
account is still the
responsibility of
the person while
their re-appeal is
pending. Please be
detailed and do not
simply restate the
contents of the
original appeal or
it will not be
accepted.
-
Once a second appeal
appointment has been
scheduled, a person
has three ways to
plead their case: 1) In person. 2) By
telephone. 3)
In writing.
-
-
The outcome of the
second appeal will
be sent to the
appellant via email.
The decision
of the Parking
Appeals Team
is final.
Transcripts and
other documents will
not be released from
Enrollment Services
until such violation
fees are paid.
