Reserve is a collection of materials faculty members request to be made available as additional reading for their course offerings.
Options available to Faculty:
1. Traditional Reserve - Paper copies of articles, course exams, study guides, personal copies of books, Library owned books that are placed on short term loan. The faculty member can determine the loan period for individual items.
Loan options are:
Faculty members must print and fill out one of the following forms for each item placed on Reserve.
2. Electronic Reserves (E-Reserves) - Articles are scanned as PDF files (grayscale only) and made available, online only, by instructor's last name and course name through NEIU Library Catalog Course Reserves. Articles may be printed directly from any computer, on or off campus.
3. Faculty Blackboard Site or Website Support - Articles are scanned as PDF files in grayscale and sent to faculty member's e-mail address for their use in Blackboard or a personal Website.
Search and Retrieval Options Available to Students:
1. Searching - All items placed on Reserve are found in the NEIU Library Catalog Course Reserves. From Course Reserves students may use the Instructor drop down menu to search for reserve materials by an instructor's last name and course. All reserve items, including electronic reserves, will be listed for that particular course. Each listing will include call numbers, Reserve location and links to full text (for electronic reserves) Students may also search for an item by using the Course search and choosing the course name and number from the drop down menu.
2. Retrieving Materials - Items listed as Electronic Reserves are available full text online and may be printed directly from the Full Text Online link. These items are only available online, they are not available at the 1st or 3rd floor Reserve Desks..
Items located at either the 1st or 3rd floor Reserve Desk need to be requested in person at the appropriate Reserve Desk by the call number noted in the Reserve item's record. The corresponding Reserve Desk location is also listed.
