Electronic Books Collection

The Library has made it possible for you to access a wide range of research, reference and reading materials online from netLibrary. The eBooks in this collection were purchased to meet the needs of our students, faculty and staff. In addition, when you search the collection, you'll note an option for publicly accessible eBooks - classic works of literature and history. If you only wish to search and browse eBooks, you will not need to create an account. If, however, you wish to check out eBooks for an extended time and/or access them remotely, you will need to create an account that identifies you as an authorized user

eBooks are easy to use. They are accessible from the library or any computer on or off-campus. (Please note that off-campus access is limited to NEIU students, faculty and staff.) In addition to the added functionality of viewing and using eBooks described below, each eBook is embedded with the American Heritage Dictionary of the American Language, 4th Ed.

Searching for eBooks - You can search for specific titles in the Library's online catalog or the complete collection at netLibrary. Both methods will produce the same results.

The Library's Online Catalog - Search for eBooks in the same way you search for print books in the collection--by author, title or subject or other search term. EBooks in the Library's online catalog are distinguished by a location of "E-Resource, Available Online". Click on the associated link to go directly to the eBook title in netLibrary. Once you see the eBook title in netLibrary you will have access to additional functions such as searching the book's full text or temporarily "checking out" the book for offline viewing.

netLibrary - Searching the collection of eBooks at netLibrary allows you to initially search every word in every eBook the library has, as well as author, title or subject searches. (Note that searching the full text of the entire eBook collection will be slow and may produce a large set of results. It is recommended that you search specific author, title and/or subject terms before attempting a full text search of the entire collection of eBooks.) Once you locate the eBook title in netLibrary you will have access to additional functions such as searching the specific book's full text or temporarily "checking out" the book for offline viewing.
