Getting Started

Email and Internet Accounts

Electronic mail (email), is offered free of charge to all faculty, students, and staff who use computers in their work or study. Students recieve e-mail and web space at the same time their accounts is generated. It allows users to send and recieve messages electronically and also to create their web site. NEIU email account runs on Gamut. Please get the Dial-in numbers from the list of access number.

The email login and password follows a specific formula. Login is the first letter of their first name and the last name with out any space and password consists of the first letter of their first name and the SSN.
The example below is for a student named 'Jill Chris Smith' and
for example his SSN is 123-45-6789.

	Login name:	'jcsmith'
	Password:	The password will be j123456789 (123456789 is the SSN of the student)
	E-mail address:	S-smith@neiu.edu

You can recieve e-mail accounts with the following types of addresses:

	First Initial-Last Name@neiu.edu (S-Tom@neiu.edu)
	(First Initial+Middle Initial)-lastname@neiu.edu (SM-Tom@neiu.edu)

	Department/Faculty Accounts

	Novell
	By opening Network account you will get access to network drives H, P, U, network printer and the Novell network. Note: The link below is a fill-in form. (Users can fill out this form on their computer and get a print-out) Novell Account Form
