Dial-In Access There are two phone numbers you may use. Phone number 773-583-1222 will give you access to a pool of 24 modems which have a 30-minute time limit. This is to be used for those individuals
who wish to get in and out of the system briefly to check their Email.
NDS maintain all the cabling, switches and hubs to provide network infrstructure
to support telecommunication needs for the univeristy. NDS maintain critical
servers which support an array of applications which resides on Unix,
NT and Novell. NDS is responsible for E-mail and Web services and
other internet services for the Univerisity. We provide security
to our internal network from dangers of Internet and internal Hackers.
Phone number 773-583-1555 will give you access to a pool of 108 modems.
These modems have a 12-hour time limit. They will also disconnect you
if you are idle (no computer activity) for 20-minutes.
It is the responsibility of the user to determine which phone numbers
are within their calling area and whether or not local rates apply to
calls placed to these numbers.
Please note that NEIU will not be responsible for any Ameritech errors.
Ameritech will bill calls made from the telephone numbers that are defined
as local to the area, to residential customers as flat rate calls in the
least expensive rate bands. If the call is billed at a higher rate, a
toll charge, Focal Communications will provide credit to the user for
the entire cost of the call, including tax.
