Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counsellors, and the most patient of teachers. -Charles W. Eliot, educator (1834-1926)
Until it is kindled by a spirit as flamingly alive as the one which gave it birth a book is dead to us. Words divested of their magic are but dead hieroglyphs. -Henry Miller, novelist (1891-1980)

If you would like to know anything about Educational software effectiveness check my article in T.H.E Journal. It's titled Educational effectiveness of Computer software. See some students' comments on the topic.

Another article I wrote in the Journal of Women and Minorities in Science and Engineering, titled "Examination of Computer Software in Relation to Gender Differentiation", 1994.

A paper titled "Give up your Pedestal, but don't give up your Lesson Plans": Technology will make you work as hard without all the glamour of the profession." was published in March '97 in the Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility (CPSR) Winter newsletter which I edited.
