See me almost disappear in the ...
Grand canyon
And almost swallowed up in the
San Diego zoo.
Other pictures from my USA travels

|
Was just
there this June-July for
two weeks and stayed mostly in bed and breakfasts.
Check the yidaki (didgeridoo) music. |

Besides the penguins I especially loved the Aboriginal art. |
Spent there 2 days on my way to
Israel and Jordan in February, 1996. Beautiful architecture. Bad
work ethics. Discouraged citizen. Closed museums. However stores full
of merchandise and cafes full of young people.
This is
my country of birth so of course I believe
it is the best & most wonderful place. It keeps on changing though.
Every time I visit it I find new pearles, new faces, new ways of life....See me
on a camel somewhere in the desert.
| My third, if not second home. I spent there 5 years of high school plus 1 year in 1991-92. I stop there every year on my way to Israel. |
| In September, 1994, we celebrated there our 26th year high school reunion. It was wonderful to renew ties with my old school mates. |
Returning to Thailand two summers ago, I
found Bangkok very changed in the last 20 years. It is much more crowded
and polluted now. I still enjoyed my elephant ride in Chang Mai and the
3 hour river cruise to the King palace North of Bangkok.
Nepal is one of my favorite places. Untouched by civilization, high peeks and ancient temples had a magical charm. I hear that now, with the advent of cars it is more crowded, noisy and polluted.
Japan--Such a different culture despite its modernism. I especially loved its food, and was most impressed by the work ethics.
Korea--Seoul is a very busy place. Charming people.
Hong-Kong--A most beautiful city. Very cheap too.
India--Not quite Far East, but far enough East. I was there just for a short visit to beautiful Agra (see the Tajmahal) and New Delhi. I'll be back one day...
Iran--Was there for one day only
under the Shah regime. Had a bad experience as a western woman.
Egypt--Very strange experiences for an Israeli-American in Cairo. Our hotel was near the pyramids. The moon over these ancient stones at night, and my afternoon at the pool represented just such a wonderful and strange combination.

What a wonderful continent that now I appreciate even
more
after having traveled the US. Every few miles one encounters another
momentum of a rich history. What a rich and diversified culture in
each
of these countries: France (see Paris), Belgium, Luxemburg,
Netherlands (see Nijmegen), Tcheck Republic (see Prague),
Scandinavia, Spain, Italy, Rumania, |
| Haven't been yet to Greece (my Mom was born in Salonica.) Just visited Istanbul in Turkey for 2 days in May '99 (my Father's family came from there to Israel more than a hundred years ago during the Ottoman Empire). |
Have been to Morrocco for one interesting day, and Egypt (above). Almost made it to Guinea but unfortunately the trip got delayed indefinitely.
Fortunately, have received a Fulbright award to lecture and do research in Benin, Africa, 2003-2004.
Have been 3 times to Brazil, which I loved, and a bit to
Argentina. I was once in Rio where
crime was a problem, and twice to Sao=Paolo. Also visited Iguasu Falls and
Salvador.
Alaska--A wonderful place. Loved the 3
day cruise
just to get there. The whales, the glaciers, the sleeping on the deck...
Mexico--

Visited Cozumel Dec. 2000, for one short day from a 4-day cruise.
Spent a week in beautiful Mazatlan, August '98, and in the surrounding area. Also spent one day in Mexico City. Great place if you feel secure. Visited Oaxaca in March '97 where we finally exercised our little Spanish, visited ruins, shopped in authentic markets, saw some museums and galleries and sat in outdoor cafes. I was in Acapulco and Cancun mostly to relax, see some history and get good food and tan. Check the following photos from Chichen Itza and surrounding area Nogales and Tijuana were visited for shopping purposes. |
