See me almost disappear in the ... Grand canyon
And almost swallowed up in the
San Diego zoo.
Listen to yidaki (didgeridoo) music.
Nepal is one of my favorite places. Untouched by civilization, high peeks and ancient temples had a magical charm. I hear that now, with the advent of cars it is more crowded, noisy and polluted.
Japan--Such a different culture despite its modernism. I especially loved its food, and was most impressed by the work ethics.
Korea--Seoul is a very busy place. Charming people.
Hong-Kong--A most beautiful city. Very cheap too.
India--Not quite Far East, but far enough east. I was there
just for a short visit to beautiful Agra and New Delhi. I'll be back one
day...
Iran--Was there for one day only under the Shah regime. Had a bad experience as a western woman.
Egypt--Very strange experiences for an Israeli-American in Cairo. Our hotel was near the pyramids. The moon over these ancient stones at night, and my afternoon at the pool represented just such a wonderful and strange combination.
What a wonderful continent that now I appreciate even more after having traveled the US. Every few miles one encounters another momentum of a rich history. What a rich and diversified culture in each of these countries: France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Scandinavia, UK, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, England, etc.
Haven't been yet to Greece (my Mom was born in Salonica) but just visited Istanbul in Turkey for 2 days (my Father's family came from there to Israel more than a hundred years ago during the Ottoman Empire).
Have been to Morrocco for one interesting day, Egypt for 2 days(above), and Benin, West Africa, for a year, 2003-2004.
Have been to Brazil 3 times, and Argentina for a few hours.
Alaska--A wonderful place. Loved the 3 day cruise just to get there. The whales, the glaciers, the sleeping on the deck...
Mexico--I haven't really met the people there as I did in other places visited. I was in Acapulco and Cancun mostly to relax and get good food and tan. Nogales and Tijuana were visited for shopping purposes.
Bahamas and Carribean Islands They are as dreamful as one reads about.
Hawaii Have been several times to Honolulu, Maui, and Kawaii Island.

"The true artist sees the harmony, the wholeness, the tendencies toward perfection in things everywhere."
Guggenheimer, Creative Vision 1950
........................................................................... What is Art? It is the response of man's creative soul to the call of the Real. -Rabindranath Tagore, Indian Poet (1861-1941)
Some art history by David Caftori, my father, a great artist.
You may now view:
I started painting during my year in Paris, 1991-92, being influenced by my surroundings, my father's visit (an artist), and having so much free time on my hands.
My art is mostly abstract, mixed media (markers, pastels, chalk) on paper and is distinguished by the very rich palate of colors I use.
In 1994 I started sculpting in stone using pneumatic tools in addition to painting.
During my sabbatical year (1995-1996) I moved to sculpting figures in clay and after having finished my first piece in beech wood using mostly a cheasel and hammer, I created my third alabaster stone solely by hand.
I also learned intaglio printing and monoprint. My etchings are very different than the original Parisian works.
The following are a few of my works of art:
| Marble sculpture | done this past summer 1998. I don't plan on touching marble after this one. Too hard. |
| Woman in acrylic | on canvas, 1998 |
| My art exhibit, | September 1998, at the Bean Counter Cafe in Evanston. With a few friends. |
| Couple | Acrylic on canvas, 1998 |
| Dolphins | 1999 |
| He and She | Chalk on paper, 1998 |
| Bound couple | Chalk on paper, 1988 |
| Electricity | Chalk on paper |
| Target | Acrylic on canvas. One of my favorites. 1998. |
| Dancing Heart | Chalk on paper, 1998 |
| Dancing Heart | Chalk on paper, 1998 |
| Woman | Crayons on paper, 1998 |
| Melissa | Markers on paper, 1998 |
| Cats | Markers on paper, 1998 |
| To life! (lehaiim) | Markers, 1992 |
If you have Real Audio you may see a video of my art as part of a group exhibit by sculptors from the Omri Amrani's studio, Nov. 1994, downtown Chicago.
My art along with my father's and daughter's was exhibited at LaSalle Talman Bank on 5300 Dempster in Skokie, during Feb. '97.
Another exhibit took place at the library of Northeastern Illinois University from October 6th through the 25th, 1997.

Anyhow, I've been on two musical comedies recently with minor roles,
but loved every minute of it.
Bells are Ringing, was performed on
March 13, 15 and 16, 1997.
Radio Days, 1998
I am not an avid sports fan. I usually get involved in a sport activity if it has a social side benefit or a meditative edge. I almost sky dived recently, but ... it was too windy. It will happen soon.
