 Dr. Diane Haslett

Dr. Diane Haslett, in addition to her passion for women-authored detective fiction, is Associate Professor of the Social Work Program at the University of Maine. A graduate of Jane Adams School of Social Work at UIC, Dr. Haslett is the Coordinator of the BASW Program and teaches in the areas of social work practice, human behavior and the social environment, and group work. Currently she is developing a joint summer program with the University of Bristol in England. Her research interests and journal publications include historical social work research, group work, teen parenting, and women's issues.

Dr. Haslett is a regional coordinator for the Joint Project on Group Work Education sponsored by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and the Association for the Advancement of Social Work with Groups (AASWG). She is a member of the international board of AASWG and is a liaison for the Women's Commission of CSWE. Locally, she volunteers with the Eastern Maine Children's Museum and is a board member of the Maine Chapter of NASW. On campus, Dr. Haslett serves on the Faculty Senate, the Curriculum Transformation Committee of Women in the Curriculum, and is faculty advisor to the School of Social Work Student Organization.
